Where a Lombard work vehicle gets noticed

Lombard is framed by expressways. The village's own economic development plan notes that I-355 bounds it on the west and I-88 on the south. Inside that frame, a few commercial roads do most of the work, and each one puts your vehicle in front of a different crowd.

  • Roosevelt Road

The village calls Roosevelt Road (IL-38) its main east-west artery, and it ties straight into I-355. It is a long run of shopping centers; one renovated center there picked up Hobby Lobby and Harbor Freight Tools as tenants. Along a shopping strip like that, drivers keep stopping for signals and slowing to turn into lots, which is when a tailgate with a phone number and one clear service line actually gets read.

  • Butterfield Road and Yorktown

Butterfield Road (IL-56) is Lombard's best-known retail address. Yorktown Center opened there in 1968, The Shops on Butterfield followed in 2007, and the Westin Chicago Lombard stands beside the mall. A corridor study by CMAP with Lombard, Downers Grove, Oak Brook and DuPage County describes the stretch between 22nd Street and I-88 as a regional retail destination with offices, industrial buildings and apartments mixed in. Here, parking-lot exposure counts as much as road exposure.

  • North Avenue and downtown

On the north side, North Avenue (IL-64) has its main retail intersection at Rohlwing Road (IL-53), where Lombard Landings sits. Downtown is slower and more personal. The Metra Union Pacific West station at 9 S. Main Street is in the central business district, a short walk from Lilacia Park, the heart of the Lilac Village. Lilac Time, the village festival that wraps up in mid-May with a parade, brings people downtown in numbers that a plain white van parked on Main Street simply wastes.

Office parks, industrial space and the trades that serve them

Lombard is not only retail. The same village plan points to the I-88 East-West research and development corridor and to 22nd Street, along the southern border, for modern office buildings. It counts eleven office and industrial parks and a large industrial park on the village's northern edge. All of those buildings need electricians, HVAC technicians, janitorial crews, landscapers, low-voltage installers and caterers.

For that audience, design for the loading dock and the visitor lot, not the highway. Property managers and facility managers notice who shows up and how professional they look. A van that says exactly what you do for commercial buildings, such as "Rooftop HVAC service and maintenance agreements," with a short website and a phone number, makes the next call easy. Keep the logo large on both sides, put the service line where it can be read across a parking lot, and keep the rear doors simple.

Businesses that sell to shoppers along Roosevelt or Butterfield, like bakeries, florists, boutique delivery or event rentals, usually need more color and product photography, because their customers decide on impulse. That is where a full wrap tends to earn its cost over spot graphics. Our article on partial vs. full wraps walks through that trade-off.

Expressway miles or neighborhood hours

Before choosing coverage, look at how your Lombard vehicle actually spends its day. If most of it is on I-355 and I-88 between job sites, people see the truck from the side, at speed, for a few seconds. That calls for a big business name, one service, and high contrast. Fine print and long lists of services disappear at expressway speed.

If you mostly work Lombard's residential streets, the math flips. The village had 44,476 residents at the 2020 census, and a lot of service work happens in their driveways. A truck parked outside a kitchen remodel for three days gets studied by every neighbor walking past, so there is room for a short list of services, a photo, or a line about being licensed and insured if that is true for your business.

Many owners land in the middle: a partial wrap with strong color on the sides and full contact details on the rear. One practical note: if the truck goes home with you at night, ask your HOA or the Village of Lombard how they treat lettered commercial vehicles in residential driveways before you commit to a design.

Getting your vehicle to the Itasca shop

From downtown Lombard to 1337 E Industrial Dr is about 6.9 miles. The usual route is north on Grace Street into Addison, Mill Road north to George Street, then Prospect Avenue into Itasca, roughly 19 minutes without traffic. We design, print, laminate and install everything in that building, so your vehicle never travels between vendors.

The order of things is simple. A written quote comes back within 24 hours, and you see a free design mockup of your actual vehicle before any money changes hands. After you approve the mockup, the wrap is ready in 3 to 5 business days, and most installs take one day, so plan on one day without the vehicle.

Lombard companies running several vans should know that we have a single install bay. Vehicles go through one at a time, which lets you stagger drop-offs and keep most of the fleet on the road. The fleet discount begins at 3% once you wrap a second vehicle and tops out at 12% for fleets of 25 or more. Our fleet wrap page covers how rollouts are scheduled.

Vehicle Wrap Questions From Lombard Businesses

Ask us anything else: 847-637-0009.

How long does it take to get from Lombard to your shop?

Plan on roughly 19 minutes without traffic for the 6.9 miles between downtown Lombard and 1337 E Industrial Dr in Itasca. Most people take Grace Street north into Addison, then Mill Road to George Street and Prospect Avenue. Rush hour adds time, so an early-morning drop-off with a ride back to Lombard usually works best.

My crew services office buildings along 22nd Street and the I-88 corridor. What should the wrap say?

Lead with the service those buildings buy from you, not a list of everything you do. Facility and property managers see your van in their lot, so a clear logo, one specific service line, a short website and a phone number work best. We put all of that into a free design mockup so you can judge it before paying anything.

Is a full wrap worth it for a business near Yorktown Center or Roosevelt Road?

If your customers are shoppers deciding on impulse, such as bakeries, florists or event rentals, full color and product photos usually pay off, and a full wrap gives you room for them. If you mostly need to be identified at job sites, a partial wrap or spot graphics often does the job for less. We can mock up both so you can compare.

Can I keep driving my vehicle while the wrap is being made?

Yes. We design and print before you drop off. After you approve the mockup, the wrap is ready in 3 to 5 business days, and you bring the vehicle in only for installation. Most installs take one day, so you usually lose the vehicle for a single workday.

What vinyl do you use and how long will it last?

Lombard vehicles get the same premium cast films from 3M and Avery we use on every job, and those films typically last 5 to 7 years depending on storage and washing. Every install carries our 5-year workmanship warranty. Parking in a garage and hand washing help a wrap reach the long end of that range.

Do you offer discounts for Lombard companies wrapping several vehicles?

Yes. Two to four vehicles earn 3% off, five to nine earn 7%, ten to 24 earn 10%, and 25 or more earn 12%. Because we work from a single install bay, we schedule fleet vehicles one at a time so the rest of your trucks stay on the road.
