Plumbing Van & Truck Wraps in Chicagoland

A homeowner with water on the basement floor calls the first plumber they can find. We design, print and install plumbing van and truck wraps in our Itasca shop that put your number, license and emergency line where people remember them.

What to Put on a plumbing van

Wraps for plumbing vans and utility body trucks: big phone numbers, your license number and service lists homeowners can read from the curb.

  • Phone number large enough to read across a street, on both sides and the rear doors

  • Your Illinois plumbing license number, placed near the phone number

  • A 24/7 or emergency service line, if you answer after hours

  • Short service list: drains, sewer lines, water heaters, backflow testing

  • Residential and commercial callouts so property managers know you take their calls

  • Website or QR code on the rear doors for drivers stopped behind you

  • A licensed, bonded and insured line the customer sees at the door

Good to knowThe Illinois Department of Public Health states that all advertisements for plumbing services must include the plumbing license number, so we plan a clear, readable spot for yours on every plumbing wrap.

Vehicles Plumbers Wrap Most

Why plumbing companies wrap their vans

Most plumbing work starts with a problem nobody planned for: a backed-up drain on a Sunday, a water heater that quit before guests arrived, a sump pump that failed during a storm. Those customers rarely shop around for long. They call a name they already know, or the number they saw on a van parked two driveways down.

That is the job of a plumbing wrap. It keeps your name in front of homeowners on the days they do not need you, so you are the first call on the day they do. It also does quieter work at the door. A clean, fully lettered van tells a customer the person ringing the bell is from an established company, not someone who answered an online ad an hour ago.

Designing a wrap for plumbing calls

  • The phone number comes first

A plumbing van is often read by someone who is stressed and moving. Set the phone number in heavy, plain type, in a color that contrasts hard with the background, and put it on both sides and the rear doors. Script fonts and thin outlines look fine on a monitor and disappear at a distance.

  • Say what you fix

Keep the service list short and in the words customers use: drains, sewer lines, water heaters, sump pumps, backflow testing. If you take commercial work, say so. A facility manager stuck in traffic behind you can be worth more than another one-off residential call.

  • Show your license

Illinois Department of Public Health guidance says plumbing advertisements must include the plumbing license number. Treat it as part of the design rather than fine print, and place it near the phone number where a careful customer will look for it.

Plumbing wraps from our shop

For Drain & Plumbing Service, we wrapped a cargo van front to back in deep red and vivid blue, with a giant pipe wrench running diagonally across the side. The services are specific (residential and commercial plumbing, hydro jetting, RPZ and backflow device testing), and the cab carries the phone number, a Licensed, Bonded, Insured line and a visible license number.

Excellent Plumbing runs a utility body truck, which is really two shapes to design for: a rounded cab and a boxy service body. We kept the company name on the cab doors and used the flat utility body as the main billboard, with the phone number, website, a 24/7 Emergency Service callout and a QR code. A small pipe-and-fitting graphic ties the truck to the trade.

Full wrap, partial wrap or lettering

A full wrap gives you the most room and the strongest color, which suits a company that wants to be recognized from a block away. A partial wrap uses your white factory paint as part of the design and costs about half as much; on a cargo van it starts around $1,970 compared with $3,930 for full coverage. Lettering alone covers name, number and license for the smallest budget. Our partial vs. full wrap guide walks through the trade-offs.

Adding vans as you hire

Plumbing companies tend to grow one technician and one van at a time. Have your design set up as a template so each new vehicle, whether a Transit, a ProMaster or a utility truck, gets the same layout. Fleet discounts start at two vehicles. Most installs take one day in our Itasca bay, so plan each drop-off for a slower day instead of pulling a truck off emergency rotation.

Plumbers Success Story

Plumbers Vehicle Wrap FAQs

Does my plumbing license number have to be on my van?

The Illinois Department of Public Health states that all advertisements for plumbing services must include the plumbing license number. A wrapped van advertises your services, so we treat the number as a required part of the layout and place it close to your phone number where customers can read it. If you also work in Chicago or another city with its own plumbing rules, check those requirements too.

How large should the phone number be on a plumbing van?

Large enough to be the second thing people read after your company name. Use heavy, plain lettering in a color that contrasts strongly with the background, and repeat it on both sides and the rear doors. Avoid script fonts and thin outlines. The free mockup shows exact placement before you pay, so if the number looks small to you, we enlarge it before anything is printed.

Can you wrap a utility body or service body truck?

Yes. Our portfolio includes a full wrap on a utility body truck for Excellent Plumbing. These trucks combine a rounded cab with a boxy body full of compartment doors, so the layout is planned around both shapes: company name on the cab doors, phone number and services on the flat body panels. You bring the truck to our Itasca shop, and most installs take one day.

How long will my plumbing van be off the road?

Production starts once you approve the mockup, and the wrap is usually ready in 3 to 5 business days. The van only needs to be at our Itasca shop for the install itself, and most installs take one day. Plumbing companies that run on-call schedules can book the drop-off for a slower day and keep the rest of the fleet covering emergencies.

What happens to the wrap if I sell the van or return a lease?

Cast wrap films like the 3M and Avery products we use are designed to come off factory paint that is in good condition. Repainted panels, chips or failing clear coat carry more risk, so tell us about any bodywork before the install. When it is time to sell or return the van, we offer wrap removal starting at $800.

Should I add a QR code to my plumbing van?

It is useful on the rear doors, where a driver stopped behind you has a few seconds to scan it. Point it to a page where people can book or call, not just your home page. Keep the phone number large anyway, because someone with a leaking pipe may be more likely to call than scan. Excellent Plumbing's truck pairs a QR code with its 24/7 Emergency Service callout.
