An industrial town with a residential face

Drive Gary Avenue past Village Hall and the Town Center and Carol Stream looks like a quiet suburb of about 40,000 people. Turn onto North Avenue and the picture changes. The village counts more than 1,000 businesses and over 20 million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space, compared with about 2 million square feet of commercial buildings. Founder Jay Stream named the village after his daughter Carol when it incorporated in 1959, and its motto, "A great place to live and work," sums up that split fairly well.

For a business owner deciding on a wrap, the split matters. Many vehicles here do both kinds of work in one day: a morning delivery at a dock off North Avenue and an afternoon service call on a residential street across town.

Who runs vehicles out of Carol Stream

The village's largest employers cover food production, manufacturing, printing, publishing and distribution: Hearthside Food Solutions, FIC America, Grunt Style, FedEx, American Litho, Diamond Marketing Solutions, Office Depot, AJ Antunes & Co. and Tyndale House Publishers. The U.S. Postal Service's sectional hub for the 601 and 603 ZIP code prefixes is here as well.

Large employers like these rarely need a local wrap shop. The businesses around them do: the electrical and mechanical contractors who maintain the plants, equipment service technicians, movers, caterers, cleaning crews and parts suppliers. Most of them run cargo vans and pickups, and some run box trucks. In a town with this much industrial floor space, those vendors are competing for the same buildings, and a clearly branded vehicle in the parking lot is one of the simplest ways to be remembered.

North Avenue, Gary Avenue and the rest of the map

  • North Avenue (IL-64)

North Avenue is Carol Stream's most important road. It runs east toward Chicago and connects to I-355, which is how most trucks leave the village for the expressway system. The 439,000-square-foot Prologis warehouse at 250 S. Gary Avenue, for example, is marketed on its access to I-355 via North Avenue, and large distribution buildings such as the one at 121 E. North Avenue line the corridor. Plain white trucks are everywhere on a road like that; a wrapped one is easy to pick out.

  • Gary Avenue and the Town Center

Gary Avenue is the main north–south road, running up toward Bloomingdale and the former Stratford Square site. The village reports more than 30,000 vehicles a day passing through the signalized intersection of Gary Avenue and Lies Road at the Town Center, which is a lot of people for a van waiting at that light.

  • The other corridors

Army Trail Road and Geneva Road carry east–west traffic across the village, County Farm Road is a major commercial route, and Schmale Road serves a smaller commercial area on the southeast side. A rail feeder line also serves the main industrial complex. Between them, these roads connect the plants and warehouses to the subdivisions, schools and parks where the same service vans spend their afternoons.

Designing for docks and driveways

Because Carol Stream mixes industrial blocks with neighborhoods, the wrap has to work at a glance from the road and up close in a driveway. A practical layout puts a large logo and phone number high on each side for distance, with a short list of services and a web address lower down near the side door for the person standing next to it. Rear doors should repeat the name and number in type large enough to read from the car behind you at a signal on Gary Avenue.

Box trucks are priced on request because box sizes and body styles vary; our box truck wraps page explains what to send. For vans and pickups, the starting prices are on this page, and the wrap calculator lets you try full, partial and spot-graphic coverage before you call.

Scheduling from 24 minutes away

Carol Stream is one of the farther towns in our core area, about 12 miles from the shop. The usual route is North Avenue east to I-355 north, off at Lake Street (US-20), then Rohlwing Road (IL-53) north, Bloomingdale Road east, and Irving Park Road and Prospect Avenue to Industrial Drive. Allow about 24 minutes without traffic, and keep in mind that I-355 is part of the Illinois Tollway system.

For a single vehicle, plan to drop it off for the install day; most installs are done in one day. For a fleet, we run vehicles through our one install bay on a schedule, so most of your trucks stay in service while the rest are wrapped, and fleet discounts start at two vehicles. Production is ready 3 to 5 business days after you approve the free mockup, the film is premium 3M or Avery cast vinyl, and every install is backed by a 5-year workmanship warranty.

Vehicle Wrap Questions From Carol Stream Businesses

Ask us anything else: 847-637-0009.

How long does it take to get from Carol Stream to your shop?

Plan on about 24 minutes without traffic for the roughly 12-mile drive. Most people take North Avenue east to I-355, exit at Lake Street, and finish on Rohlwing Road, Bloomingdale Road, Irving Park Road and Prospect Avenue. Since most installs take one day, you will make the trip for drop-off and again for pick-up, so it helps to line up a second driver.

Can you wrap a fleet based in one of Carol Stream's North Avenue warehouses?

Yes. Vehicles come to our Itasca shop one at a time through our single install bay, so you can rotate them in while the rest of the fleet keeps working. We keep the logo, colors and contact details in the same places on every vehicle. The fleet discount grows with the count: 3% on two to four vehicles, 7% on five to nine, 10% on ten to 24, and 12% once you reach 25.

Our vans do industrial jobs in the morning and house calls in the afternoon. What design covers both?

Design in two layers. The top layer is for distance: logo, trade and phone number, large and high on the sides and repeated on the rear doors. The second layer is for people standing beside the van at a dock or in a driveway: a short service list, website and QR code near the side door. We show both views on the free mockup before you pay.

Do you wrap box trucks used on Carol Stream distribution routes?

We do. Box trucks are quoted individually because box length, door type and body style vary. Send us the make, model, box length and a few photos and you will receive a written quote within 24 hours. The roll-up door, hinges and side doors are worked into the layout so nothing important lands on a seam.

Is a partial wrap enough for a contractor pickup?

Often it is. A partial wrap covers about half the vehicle and gives you room for a logo, trade and contact details on the doors and bed sides, and spot graphics cover roughly a quarter. For a pickup, partial coverage starts at $1,200 and spot graphics at $600. Our article comparing partial and full wraps explains when each makes sense.

What materials and warranty come with the wrap?

Every wrap is printed on premium cast film from 3M or Avery and laminated in our Itasca shop. Typical film life is 5 to 7 years, and installation is covered by a 5-year workmanship warranty. Since we design, print and install in-house, one team handles your vehicle from mockup to finished install.
